Major Courses:
Public Information and Campaigns
This course is designed to initiate an appreciation of the salient role of public information and social campaign important to nation building. It also encompasses the principles and concepts in communication planning and implementation of communication campaigns.
Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Communication
Theoretical and rationalistic approaches on the use of intrapersonal and interpersonal communication strategies are covered in this course. It focuses on the practical and experimental utilization of strategies as review mechanism in educating with the basic principles of communication.
Television Performance and Production
This course develops the competence in the students in employing the different elements of television performance in production, dissemination of information, persuasion and entertainment. It culminates with the submission of videos documentary productions done by the class.
Writing for Television
This course deals with the different writing styles for television. Likewise, it focuses on the various types of television programs and the corresponding writing for techniques for each type.
Development Communication
This course is about the basic concept of development communication and its role in nation building. It initiates a rethinking towards an understanding of communication in social changes.
Drama and Theatre Arts
This course is composed of comprehensive discussions of the different theories about theater in a particular level and dramatic arts in general. It also explores a variety of practical techniques and application.
Introduction to Broadcasting
This course is about the comprehensive overview of the broadcasting industry. It includes the history and development of radio and television, rationale for studying broadcasting, and the framework and methodology for analyzing broadcasting systems. This course focuses on the role of programming as a prominent feature of broadcasting. It also includes intergovernmental and non-governmental organization in broadcasting.
Broadcast Programming and Techniques
This course provides students with the principles in the programming and management features of media networks. This entails the student’s responsibility to prepare and manage the program concept, budget and technical and creative staff towards a well-executed production. It is also designed to present students to administrative and organizational skills of importance to media management.
Media Literacy and Studies
This course is about the critical examination of media pervasiveness and persuasiveness in both print and broadcast with emphasis in total development. The mass media is further examined using updated techniques, along the line of people, individual, and group constructivism of the concept of media industry and its social responsibility.
Thesis Writing
This course embodies an intensive process of investigating, writing, analyzing and presenting a specific communication problem. It starts with the evaluation of thesis proposal followed by the conduct of thesis process. The researcher(s) under the supervision of the thesis adviser should follow the COC research guidelines and format.
Practicum (Internship 1 and 2)
This course is designed to equip the senior Broadcast Communication students with salient broadcast experience necessary for their future profession. This serves as an avenue that will hone the technical and creative expertise of the senior students, wherein they are required to practice and apply all theoretical, technical and creative principle acquired during the previous semester in a Broadcast Media Institution. Students are required to complete 150 hours in Radio Industry and another 150 hours in Television Industry.
Senior students are required to conduct their practicum in Metro Manila-based broadcast companies or nearby areas. Also, international invitation for practicum is permitted.

A comprehensive overview of the vital components of social science research, this course is designed to introduce students to various tools, theories, principles, techniques and practices in the conduct of empirical research.
Communication Theories and Models
This course explores the basic model of theories conceptualized by different communication scientist and scholars from the early beginnings of the study of communication as a field of discipline.
Broadcast Journalism and Reporting
This course focuses on the arena of electronic news, starting with the basic principles of news gathering, writing, processing and finally to the presentation or airing of news.
Communication Research Method
This course is all about in-depth conceptualization and writing of research proposal using appropriate design methods. Basically, it involves quantitative design that can be washed out for journalism students and qualitative design for broadcast communication students.
Writing for Radio
This course deals with the different writing styles for radio. Likewise, it focuses on the various types of radio programs and the corresponding writing techniques for each type.
Communication Society
This course focuses on the surveillance of relationships between the mass media and the society, emphasizing the media evolution in the Philippines, including system issues and its effects. This involves participants in the study of the mass media as social institution, particularly their effects on "conventional wisdom" and social norms, on public opinion, government and popular tastes. It focuses on the social change and social control of the media urban and rural communities.
Film Appreciation
This course encompasses the basic knowledge of film, such as its components, technical and aesthetics aspect, genres, form, styles and functions. This includes discussion on film theories that guide students on scientific appreciation of local and international films.
Multimedia Production and Editing
This course deals with the creativity and proficiency on the new trends in multi-media production and video communication.
Audio Video Techniques
This course evaluates the use of various technologies, equipment, new trends and techniques in radio and television, production will be the focus of this course, which will aid the students in their career in radio, television, and film production.
Electronic Media Management
This course discusses the nature and processes of electronic media management activities and functions. It covers the theoretical and practical approaches in managing different forms of electronic media that will succeed in the era of integrated media environment. This course also offers guidelines and new perspective electronic media and owners.
